Alice Garlene Smith Turner

Alice Garlene Smith Turner, the daughter of the late Garland and Mamie Hamilton, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Winchester.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, 2:00 pm at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock by Rev. Peter Mitchell. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens.

She was born in Aliquippa, PA on February 23, 1939. She was a member of the Strasburg High School Class of 1957. She attended the Luray United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Mrs. Turner operated the Narrow Passage Inn and was a retired insurance agent. She enjoyed helping others and being able to give back to her community. At the time of her passing, she was a twenty year volunteer with the Page One Thrift Shop. She will be greatly missed by one and all who knew her.

She leaves behind her loving family of two sons, Greg and Ervin Smith; four daughters, Mary Hunt, Diane Denison, Mamie Windel, and Betty White; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a sister, June Helsley and a brother, Silas Whitmer and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.
