Alice Virginia Kline Windle

Alice Virginia Kline Windle, 93, of Mt. Jackson, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 in Mt. Jackson.  A memorial service will be held Friday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodstock Christian Church.  Reverend Bill Erbach will officiate.  Private burial will be at a later date in Massanutten Cemetery in Woodstock.

Mrs. Windle was born September 3, 1919 in New Jersey, daughter of the late Fitzhugh Lee Kline and Rosie Saville Cook Kline.  She was a lifetime member of  the New Market  American Legion .  She was preceded in death by her husband James Windle in 1970; three sons, Roger, Deryl and Raymond and grandson, Harley Windle.  She was the last of her family, preceded in death  by three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by nine children, Joyce Keller (Bobby), Jean Bauserman ( Clark), Fred Windle, Steward Windle (Oleta), Harry Windle (Dorothy) all of Woodstock, Betsy Hines (Jerry), Diane Ryman, Brenda Lambert (Gary), Thomas Windle (Pat) all of Mt. Jackson; special niece, Judy Lam of Gordonsville; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Jackson  Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 251, Mt. Jackson, VA 22842.

    My thoughts are with all of the Windle family. I spent a lot of time with the Windle boys while growing up in Hamburg, and remember that Alice was a loving and caring person. She will be missed by family and friends alike.

    Betsy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. My grandmother was a Windle, so I take it as a personal loss as well. At 93, just imagine how much family history she saw and had handed down to her. I am sure she was a grand lady.
