Anna Kathryn Lindsey, 91, of Woodstock, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Royal Haven in Woodstock.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodstock United Methodist Church. The Reverend David Rash will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Lindsey was born July 19, 1920 in Hegins, PA, daughter of the late William and Ida Gahres Huntzinger.
She graduated in 1944 from Catholic University with a B.S. degree in nursing. She served as a civilian nurse in the army during World War II. In 1950, she was part of the nursing staff that attended White House police officers that were wounded during the failed assassination attempt of President Harry S. Truman. She later served in many different nursing capacities including shift supervisor at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and retired as a Public Health Nurse for the State of Virginia. She was a member of Woodstock United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, David M. Laughlin and Ralph B. Lindsey; and eight brothers and sisters.
Anna is survived by two sons, Michael Laughlin of Woodstock and his special friend Sharon Galzarano, and Jeffrey Laughlin and his wife Mona of Hockessin, DE; step-daughter, Cheryl Lindsey of Eagle Mountain, UT; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
