B. Doug Hawkins, 83 of Edinburg passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in Greenfield Reflections in Strasburg. Services will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Edinburg Christian Church. Reverend Charles Wood will officiate. Burial will be private. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00.
Mr. Hawkins was born June 14, 1932 in Edinburg, Virginia. He was the son of the late Samuel and Mabel Foltz Hawkins. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was stationed in Korea and Guam. His career was construction and bridgework. He later retired from VDOT. He was a member and deacon of the Edinburg Christian Church. He was a life member of the VFW, Post 2447. Doug enjoyed baseball, hunting and bowling. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth D. Hawkins and step-mother, Olive F. Hawkins.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Mary Ola Sheetz who was married on April 16, 1954, also surviving is a daughter, Donna Sue Hawkins of Martinsburg, West Virginia whom he adored and a brother Carroll L. Hawkins and several nieces and nephews.
