Bess Anna Borden Gochenour Foster

Bess Anna Borden Gochenour Foster, 89, of Maurertown, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at Winchester Medical Center.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Harrisville (near Toms Brook) with Pastor Joe Fleming officiating.

Mrs. Foster was born December 23, 1923 in Toms Brook, daughter of the late Phillip A. and Emma Elizabeth Eberly Borden. She graduated from Toms Brook High School in 1941 and retired from the Avtex Fibers accounting office after 30+ years of service. Bess was a lifelong member of St. John’s UCC, Harrisville  where she served as Elder of the Consistory, treasurer of the Guild-Brotherhood and Adult Sunday School class.

Bess Anna is survived by her husband, Lyle J. Foster, whom she married June 7, 1975; stepson, Jack Foster and wife, Louise; stepdaughter, Peggy Foster Etheridge; six step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; three nieces; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; three great-great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Moritz O. Gochenour; sisters, Isabel Gochenour and Betty Bowers; half-sister, Kathryn Fravel;  three half-brothers, William, Robert and Guy Borden; and stepson, James E. Foster.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I had the extreme privilege working with Bess Ann And Lyle when we all worked at Avtex. She was a great lady who I will always have fond memories. May she rest in peace.
