Bettie Bowman Coffman

Bettie Bowman Coffman, 79, of Edinburg, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her home.  The funeral will be held Friday, January  6, at 10:30 a.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.  Pastor Joseph Fleming will officiate.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg.

Mrs. Coffman was born February 14, 1931 in Hawkinstown, VA., daughter of the late Luther and Laura Bamber Bowman.  She graduated from Triplett High School and attended James Madison University.  She was formerly employed in the public relations department of Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and did substitute teaching in Shenandoah County.  She was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren, Ladys Lions Club of Mt. Jackson,  the Jacksonville, Florida Bridge Club and a volunteer at the Edinburg Library.  She was also a  member of many bridge clubs throughout the area.  She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Franklin Coffman.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Franklin Coffman Jr.; sister-in-law, Madge Clark and brother-in-law, Tom Coffman.

Pallbearers will be Brook Barrick, Larry Barrick, Charles Wilkins, John Monroe, Don Sherman Jr.,  and Randy Fadely.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, 268 Landfill Road, Edinburg, VA 22824.

    Betty was such a wonderful person who I worked with at Shen. Memorial Hospital for almost 10 years. I had many good times with Betty during those years. She will be greatly missed by friend and family.
