Carroll Calvin Burner

Carroll Calvin Burner, 86, of Quicksburg, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Quicksburg.

Mr. Burner was born February 21, 1927 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Asa Weston and Effie Ann Nicholson Burner.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy.

He was a member of The Lord’s Chapel Church in Edinburg was a self employed painter.

He is survived by two sisters, JoAnn Dellinger of Mt. Jackson and Thelma Wolverton of Woodstock; a brother, Everett Burner of Edinburg.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Burner, two brothers and a lifetime companion, Jane Shafer.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Stoney Creek Church Cemetery in Basye with Rev. Louie Shafer and Rev. James Burke officiating.

  1. GROWING UP IN ORKNEY, AND WITH CAROL AND ANNIE LIVING BETWEEN ORKNEY AND BASYE, I GOT TO KNOW HIM VERY WELL, LOTS OF YEARS PAST.

    OVER THE YEARS HE HAS PAINTED MY HOUSE IN ORKNEY A COUPLE OF TIMES AND PAINTED MU HOUSE ON NORTHERN VA A COUPLE OF TIMES.

    CAROL WAS FROM A DIFFERENT FOLD, BUT ALWAYS HAD A SMILE.
