Charlie Edward Richard, Sr., 86, of Mt. Jackson, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Richard was born December 2, 1927 in Panther, West Virginia, son of the late Mike and Pricie Blackburn Richard.
He was owner and operator of C. E. Richard Tree Service for 35 years.
He was a member of Valley Baptist Church in Edinburg.
Mr. Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth Marie Richmond Richard whom he married May 13, 1949. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Sue Stewart of Maurertown and Barbara Ailine Little of Rockingham, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Lina Cook of Knoxville, Tennessee, Maranda Yeoman of Greensboro, North Carolina, Sara Lutz of Strasburg, Christopher Mowery of Maurertown, Amy Richard of Harrisonburg and Holly Richard of Mt. Jackson; a step grandson, William Mowery of North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Gracie Cook, Katilyn Cook, Cody Cook and Peyton Yeoman, a step great grandson, Perry Yeoman III.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Richard, Jr. and a daughter, Helen Richard.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson with Pastor Barbara Covington officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lutz, Johnny Semones, Trent Semones, Gary Rhinehart, Jr., William Fadely and Josh Rhinehart. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Green, Jerry Wealthy, Aaron Baker, Tony Garcia, Hector Carrion and Laymon Mowery.
The family will receive friends Thursday 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
