Claude Edward Ritenour, Sr.

Claude Edward Ritenour Sr., 88, of Fort Valley, Virginia passed away September 9, 2014 at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock.  The funeral will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Church of the Brethren in Woodstock. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11. Pastor George Bowers and Hugo Ronk will officiate.  Burial will follow in Detrick Cemetery in Fort Valley.

Mr. Ritenour was born December 13, 1925 in Waterlick, son of the late David A. and Nellie Brown Ritenour.  He was a past member of the Fort Valley Ruritan Club. He was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren. He was an Army veteran and served during WWII and the European Conflict. He was a part of the 42nd Rainbow Division and the 222nd Infantry Regiment.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eva Boyer Ritenour; a son, Eddie Ritenour and wife Linda, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Ritenour Stevens; 2 sisters Esta Coffman and Eunice Ritenour and a brother Clyde Ritenour.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to Antioch Church of the Brethren building fund.

    We were so sorry to hear about Claude’s passing. Even though we haven’t seen you in a long time, please know that you have both been near and dear to our hearts.
