David Franklin Chrisman, 96, of Fort Valley, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at Greenfield Assisted Living in Woodstock. The funeral will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Reverend Kenneth Graff will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg.
Mr. Chrisman was born January 9, 1915 in Bentonville, son of the late John David and Mary Belle Mauck Chrisman. He was a farmer and retired from Virginia State Highway Department after 30 years. He was a longtime member of Oak Hill Church of the Brethren in Fort Valley.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Elizabeth Stout Chrisman of Fort Valley; sister, Mattie Virginia Lentz of Bentonville; two brothers, John Perry Chrisman of Bentonville and Earnest Grubbs Chrisman of Buckton and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George Newton Chrisman, William Edward Chrisman, Richard Paul Chrisman and James Daniel Chrisman; an infant child and foster sister, Lorraine Gray Clem.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Chrisman, Dennis Delawder, Ronnie Chrisman, Johnny Rush, Leroy Zweyer and Ernest Jones.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
