Doris Rebecca Wood

Doris Rebecca Wood, 71 of Woodstock passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at her home. Services will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Edinburg Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00- 1:00 at the church. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Wood was born August 8, 1943 in Charlottesville. She is the daughter of the late Howard and Beulah Johnson Hunt. She was a member of the Edinburg Christian Church. She was a nurse at Logan General for 15 years where she retired.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Charles Wood Jr.; 3 sons, Christopher Allen Wood and Charles Monroe Wood III and wife Kendra both of Logan WV, Thomas Mark Wood and wife Jennifer of South Point Ohio, and; 1 daughter Rebecca Lynn Shreck and husband William of Crewe Virginia; 2 sisters, Nancy Aldridge and husband Doug of Bonita Springs, and Ann Hicks and husband Cecil of Charlottesville; 5 grandchildren Andy, Nicholas, Brandon, Kathryn Wood and Zoe Shreck; also surviving is a special niece, Jackie Newton and a special friend, Mary Catlett.

Pallbearers will be, Jack McBroom, Clyde Beachy, Brad Dellinger, Kevin Maher, Russ Baker, Darryl Woody, Chase Newton, and Charles Newton.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to, Blue Ridge Hospice 333 W. Cork St. Winchester, Virginia 22601 or Edinburg Christian Church P.O. Box 117 Edinburg, Virginia 22824.

    I love Doris dearly. I think of getting in trouble with the pastor (Charles) when we talked and laughed during Bible Study. I think about the trips we took and the fun we had even when the reason for the trip was a serious matter. I think of stopping by the house for dinner after work and sitting out back in the cool breeze. So many good memories. Looking forward to spending time with my friend again.
