Emogene Richman Miller

Emogene Richman Miller, 80, of Woodstock, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock.  Pastor Nathan Robinson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.

Emogene was born February 5, 1935 in Shenandoah County, daughter of the late Walter and Lucy Richard Richman.  She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, chaired altar guild, and participated in church council, prayer chain, worship and music.  She was a former Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout leader. She was the fifth of six children.  She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Louise Frye, Catherine Rudolph, Isabel Lambert, Elliott Richman and Richard Richman.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Houston Randolph Miller, Sr.; five children and their spouses, Houston (Randy) Miller Jr. and Lisa of Woodstock, Debbie Cline and Lee of Woodstock, Diane Dorrin and John of Woodstock, Donna Kibler and Randy of Edinburg and Dawn Patterson and Steve of Richmond; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She was loved as well  by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons:  Andrew Dorrin, Craig Cline, Brian Cline, Cory Cline, Brent Dorrin, Houston Kibler and Christopher Miller.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 127 E. High Street, Woodstock, Virginia 22664.

 She was a devoted wife and a loving mother who enjoyed cooking, sewing and church. She will be truly missed by family and friends.

    To the Miller Family and to my Aunt Emogene
    When I was very little girl she was my Mother ,my teacher, my friend. My
    own Mom (Catherine) worked in DC ,while Emmy and I lived with her parents,
    Walter and Lucy Richman. We slept together and had to snuggle to stay warm,(No heat lol)
    She dressed and cared for me and even took me to school with her on the bus sometimes! She took me to my first day of school. Always warm and loving.
    There are no words to thank her enough nor to tell her how much I love her. She is my Angel and will always be there for all of us.

    I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Emogene throughout the years. From making monkey bread and saving wild baby bunnies when I was little, to her always helping and looking out for my grandmother (Isabel) when I was older. She was always very warm, kind, and loving to me and she will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in Peace Aunt Emogene.
