Evelyn Jean McDonald

Evelyn Jean McDonald, age 87, of Woodstock, died at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital on November 20, 2010.  She was born November 10, 1923 in Edgeworth, Allegheny County PA, daughter of William N. and Margaretha (Orleman) McDonald.  She graduated from Sewickley High School (PA) in 1942 and worked in Pittsburgh for several years before moving to New York City, where she worked for five years.  She then accepted an assignment on Guam, M.I. for the Army and Air Force Post Exchange.  Upon returning stateside, she settled in the Washington, D.C. area, where she worked for the Navy Department.  In 1957, she accepted a job with Beasley & Beasley, Valuation Engineers.  When the company moved to Woodstock in 1973, she moved to the area and continued working as a bookkeeper for the company, retiring after 30 years.  She is preceded in death by her son; Robert L. McDonald, her parents; William N. and Margaretha McDonald, and only brother, William L. McDonald.  She is survived by four grandchildren; Katherine E. Gill, of Gainesville, VA., Robert L. McDonald Jr., of Fredericksburg, VA., William T. McDonald and Samuel B. McDonald, both of Ashburn, VA., four great-grandchildren; Timothy P. Driscoll, Jr., Zachary A. Gill, Treavor S. Gill, and Brandon A. Gill, all of Gainesville, VA., and Janet Helsley, of Woodstock, long-time and dear friend.  The service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 6:00 pm, Dellinger Chapel, 157 N. Main St.  Woodstock, VA  22664.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodstock Presbyterian Church, located at 142 East Court St., Woodstock, VA.  22664
