			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Alta C. Robinson 98 of Woodstock passed away Friday, May 18, 2012.</p>
<p>A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 2:00 pm at National Memorial Park, Falls Church.</p>
<p>Mrs. Robinson was born March 13, 1914 at Pound, Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry and Esther Cantrell. Born Alta Valarie Cantrell, she attended Radford University, American University, and George Mason University, where she earned a Bachelor Degree and a Masters Degree in Education.</p>
<p>She married Woodrow Thomas Robinson of Pound, Virginia on January 4, 1935. She taught school in Wise County, Virginia where she taught all elementary grades. She also taught second grade in Fairfax County, Virginia and finished her work experience by teaching remedial reading to all elementary grades. Alta retired from her teaching career in 1976. Alta moved to Shenandoah County in 1998 with her son, George Henry Robinson. She loved the valley as it reminded her of her beloved hills and the people of Southwest Virginia. Alta is survived by three loving sons, Thomas Woodrow, George Henry, and Robert Richard; a loving daughter, Mary Ruth; 7 loving grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mother will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.</p>

<p>Mr. Snider was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 27, 1948, the son of the late John and Lillian Huston Snider. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Philip Morris.</p>
<p>Mr. Snider is survived by his wife, Brenda Snider of Woodstock; three step sons, Dennis E. Lowe, Henry F. Lowe, both of Shenandoah, and Dale R. Lowe, Jr. of Prince Edward; a stepdaughter, Crystal Dawn Redman of Buckingham; ten grandchildren.</p>

<p>Mr. Mumaw was born October 31, 1933 in Shenandoah County, son of the late William and Dora Catherine Estep Mumaw.  He retired from Edinburg Aileen.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Braden and Olen Mumaw and sister, Orpha Ryman.</p>
<p>He is survived by two sisters, Erma Frances Rinker of Woodstock and Helen “Beck” Mumaw of Edinburg; brother, Landon Carson “Tate” Mumaw of Page Co.; nieces and nephews, Ray Mumaw, Pauline Minton, Linda Smoot, Joyce Lambert, Dennis Ryman and Orville Ryman.</p>

<p>Mr. Moffat served in the United States Marines serving in WWII, being a recipient of the Purple Heart. He also served in the United States Navy in Korea, and Viet Nam and retired with twenty years of service.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Nancy Moffat of Fort Valley; a stepson, Richard Randall of Edinburg; a grand stepson, Phillip Randall of Edinburg.</p>

Hoover, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.</p>
<p>She was born June 6, 1943, in Augusta, Ga., the daughter of the late John and Margie Attaway. Before retirement, Ann was employed by the Virginia ABC Department, Woodstock Realty, and Edinburg Mill Restaurant.</p>
<p>For several years, she enjoyed greeting many faces at the Shenandoah County Fair. She was a member of Woodstock United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Woodstock Moose Lodge and the Virginia Chapter R. Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Ann was an avid supporter of the March of Dimes, where she was top fundraiser for a number of years, as well as Relay for Life.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Attaway of Steele, Ala. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 48 years, are three children, Terri Hoover-Cella of Mount Airy, N.C., Patricia Hoover-Hollins of Winchester, Va. and Chris Hoover and his wife, Tiffany of London, Ky.; five grandchildren, John Hollins, Rachel Wallace, Geno Cella III, Courtney Hollins and Emily Hoover; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Joe Attaway of Augusta, Ga.; two sisters, Carol Brummett of Waco, Texas and Joan Kelly of Las Vegas, Nev.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very large group of wonderful friends.</p>
<p>The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ann&#8217;s Hospice family.</p>
<p>There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Sunset View Memorial Gardens with the Reverend David Rash officiating. A Celebration of Ann&#8217;s Life will follow in the fellowship hall at Woodstock United Methodist Church.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, Ann&#8217;s wishes were for donations to be made to the March of Dimes or Relay for Life.</p>
<p>Dellinger Funeral Home of Woodstock is serving the Hoover family.</p>

<p>He was born May 19, 1923 to Carter and Daisy Bowers Pence.   He was a member of Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren.  He served in the army during World War II and had several occupations.  His first choice was farming since good land stewardship is essential to man’s survival.  He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Gilbert, George and foster brother Glenn Barrick and sisters, Irene Miller, Hilda Cooper, Geneva Renninger, Annie and Katie Pence and stepsister, Virginia Spence.</p>
<p>Harvey is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pearl Rhinehart Pence whom he married on December 20, 1946; one brother, Robert; sisters, Dorothy Pence and Roberta Wall and foster sisters, Frances Gochenour and Grace Minnick; and numerous nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>Friends may sign the guest book at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock Monday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you please give to your favorite charity.</p>

<p>Mr. Markley was born August 28, 1963 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Richard Lee and Dixie Lou Foltz Markley.  He was the groundskeeper at Camp Strawderman for 34 years, member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Jerome and Woodstock Moose Lodge.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Lear and Tammy Markley; brother, Kim Markley and nephew, Anthony “Tony” Markley.</p>
<p>He is survived by four sisters, Rosalie Osborne, Sandra Markley, Diana Markley and Brenda Markley all of Edinburg; brother, Ricky Markley and his wife, Debbie of Edinburg; nieces, Crystal Copenhaver and Leslie Lear; nephews, Adam Lear and Will Lear; great nephews, Derek Copenhaver, Bradley Lear, Kadden Lear and Kyle Lear; and special friend Sonny Hinkle.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mike Markley Burial Fund, c/o Dellinger Funeral Home, 157 N. Main Street, Woodstock, VA 22664.</p>
<p><em>Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoes, shooting matches, butchering.  He enjoyed his time at the Moose where he tried to win items to bring back to his family.  He enjoyed working with the girls and the horses at Camp Strawderman.  He loved to dance and have a good time.  He always helped everyone that asked for help, never saying no.   He will be greatly missed by family and friends.</em></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Edwin B. Gross, born in the Bronx, New York, died at age 83. Ed was one of four children born to Laura and Arthur Gross. He graduated from Pace College in 1952 majoring in accounting.</p>
<p>Ed served in the U. S. Army in 1946-47. After graduating from Pace College, he had financial positions with Isbrantsen Steamship  Lines, Equitable Life Assurance Society, Grumman Aerospace Corp. and Page Communications. In 1972 Ed switched his talents to selling insurance, concentrating on the corporate market. He belonged to the Million Dollar Roundtable, Life   Underwriters (L.U.T.C. Fellow) and other insurance associations.</p>
<p>Working with kids, Ed was a Boy Scout leader, president of the Fairfax Police Youth Club, coach of various football, baseball and basketball teams as well as a referee for years. He spent 25 years in various positions with the Fairfax Police Youth Club.</p>
<p>Ed was elected to the school board, serving as vice president, while living on Long Island, NY. As a member of Bryce Resort, he served on many committees, using his financial background to advantage. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Shenandoah Valley Music Festival Guild, and other organizations.</p>
<p>Surviving Ed is his wife, Mary Ellen, whom he married in 1957, sons, James Gross of Sterling, VA, Michael Gross of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Steven Gross of Roanoke, VA and a daughter, Karin Pifer of Ashburn, VA; six grandchildren, Jesse Gross of Raleigh, NC, Heather Matthews of Killeen, Texas, Brandon Gross of Fort Wayne, Hannah, Tucker and Evan Gross of Roanoke. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Isaac, Morgan, Trinity Elliott and Sage Matthews of Killeen, Texas.</p>
<p>Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 30 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of The Shenandoah Roman Catholic Church in Basye by Father Richard Ley.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Jackson Cemetery.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson.</p>
<p>Memorial contributions may be made to Bryce Resort for the golf course beautification.</p>

<p>Mr. Hansberger was born October 20, 1928 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Robert William and Edith Marie Ryman Hansberger.</p>
<p>He served in the United States Army and he retired from Southern Railroad.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Orebaugh Hansberger.</p>
<p>He is survived by a sister, Stella Bailey of Mt. Jackson; a niece, Dottie Hamilton of Strasburg; and two nephews, Daryle “Billy” Minnick of Stafford and William M. “Mike” Minnick of Locust Grove, VA</p>
<p>Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson with the Rev. Paul Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Jackson Cemetery.</p>

Cmdr. Robert Everett Foxwell at the age of 77.</p>
<p>Survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Doris Jean (Garber). Loved by his daughter, Marie Ellen Zanfardino. Cherished by his daughter, Dawn Lynn Foxwell-Hassan. Beloved Pop Pop of grandchildren, Emily Foxwell Keegan, Gabrielle Foxwell Hassan, and Alexander Armand Hassan. Always remembered by his sons-in-law, John Zanfardino and Ahmed Hassan. Sadly missed by his relatives and many great friends.</p>
<p>Relatives and friends will gather at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jerome, Virginia at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday to celebrate his life.</p>
