			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Martha Jane Tucker Gochenour</strong>, 91, of Woodstock, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 at her home.  She was born May 28, 1920 in Stokesville, VA daughter of the late Carey M. Tucker and Elsie Humphries Tucker.  Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur S. Gochenour whom she married on October 7, 1939; sisters, Bonnie Simmons, Ruby Cleveland, Elizabeth Sherman; brothers, Samuel Tucker and Lewis Tucker; granddaughter, Tena Miller and a great granddaughter.</p>
<p>She is survived by her brother, Emmitt Tucker of Winchester; children, Gloria Wakeman and husband Linden of Woodstock, Carolyn Uplegger and Dianne Gochenour of Salem, Oregon, Donald Gochenour and wife Pam of Beltsville, Maryland, Althea Heishman and husband Larry of Fort Valley; seven grandsons, one granddaughter, ten great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.</p>
<p>A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at Fairview, Woodstock, VA.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Loretta Jean Spence (Cookie) Davis</strong>, 69 of Woodstock, widow of Charles Tobin Davis, died, Saturday, February 18, 2012.</p>
<p>A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 11:00 AM at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock by Rev. David Rash and Mr. John Allen. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens.</p>
<p>Mrs. Davis was born November 25, 1942 at Woodstock, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Ray (WWII) and Peggy Hite Spence (2011). She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1961 and of VPI Class of 1965. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Isaac C.(Pete) Aleshire (1974) and a daughter, Margaret Spence Millner (1972).</p>
<p>Mrs. Davis is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth M. Scearce and fiancé, Josh Fowler of North Carolina; a son, Frank Davis and wife, Kristen of Mississippi; a stepdaughter, Dale E. Davis and husband, Todd Sneed of Lynchburg; stepsons, Bruce Davis and wife, Dee of North Carolina, Daniel R. Davis of North Carolina; brothers, Donnie Spence and wife Dixie of Woodstock and Jerry Spence and wife, Jean of Maryland; sisters, Candy A. Hausenfluck and husband, Kenny of Woodstock and Peggy Sue Stickley and husband, Larry of Woodstock; grandchildren, Spence Davis of MS and Brandon Scearce of NC; step grandchildren, Megan and Madeline Hamilton of MS., Chris Fowler of NC, Tobin and Paul Davis of NC, Aubrey and Davis Sneed of Lynchburg, and Parker Davis of NC.; Cousins, Jacqueline Lambert and Madolyn G. (Pat) Doss; honorary adopted grandsons, Turner and Thomas Martz of Woodstock; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock from 5 to 7 PM.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Larry Stickley, Kenny Hausenfluck, Justin Stickley, Jesse Clark, Aaron  Hausenfluck, Josh Fowler, Turner Martz, and Thomas Martz.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Mabel Virginia Fansler Fravel</strong> 90, of Rasye, Virginia, died on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Center in Winchester, Virginia.</p>
<p>She was born December 7, 1921 in her family home in Basye,Virginia, the oldest daughter of the late B. Ashby Fansler and Edna Blanche Estep Fansler.</p>
<p>Mrs. Fravel was a graduate of Triplett High School In Mount Jackson, Virginia. Before marrying she worked at Shaver&#8217;s Restaurant in Woodstock, Va from 1940 until 1942 and then at Wender&#8217;s Department Store in Woodstock, Va from 1942 until 1944. On November 26, 1942 she married Charles M. Fravel, who preceded her in death. In 1951 they moved to Arlington, Virginia where they lived until retiring to her family home in Basye in 1983. While in Arlington, Mrs. Fravel worked for Hurt&#8217;s Cleaners as a seamstress out of her home from 1955 until retiring in 1983, and after retiring she continued sewing for NuLook Cleaners in Woodstock, Va.</p>
<p>Mrs. Fravel was also preceded in death by her brothers Nelson E. Fansler, John C. Fanster and sister Vivian F. Moomaw two brothe in-laws Leo V. Moomaw and Thomas H. F ravel, Jr. and a sister-in-law Mildred F. Fansler.</p>
<p>Mrs. Fravel was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Orkney Springs, Virgina. Along with her parents, brothers and their wives and sister and her husband, Mrs. Fravel was instrumental in the building her beloved Church. She was also a member of the Orkney Springs/Basye Fire Rescue Auxiliary.</p>
<p>Mrs. Fravel is survived by a daughter Deborah C. Helsley and husband Randy of Basye, two sons Charles A. Fravel of Basye and R. Thomas Fravel and wife Trudy A. of Arlington. Three grandchildren Brittany C. Palmer of Charlottesville, Va, Ethan T. Palmer of Basye, and Thomas H. Fravel of Arlington. Three step grandchildren Donald R. Blackwell of Arlington, Va, Rhanda C. Helsley of Harrisonburg, Va and Rachel J. Helsley of Basye, Va and two step great grandchildren Scott A. Blackwell of Arlington and Maddox D. Heasley of Basye. Two sisters-in-law Catherine F. Fansler of Basye, Va and Margaret F. Fravel of Richmond, Va and many nieces and nephews</p>
<p>Pallbearers are nephews Ronald L Moomaw, Jack 0. Fansler, Allen D. Moomaw, Clarence W. Fansler, Gary D. Coffman and Justin T.Stieler. Honorary pallbearers are special friends Shirley Mumaw, members of the Orkney Springs/Basye Fire d Rescue Auxiliary, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lonas, Marc A. Olmsted, and Mrs. Fravel&#8217;s aid from Hospice, Wanda Stephens.</p>
<p>Her family will receive family and friends at Prince of Peace on Sunday from  5 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace on Monday at 11:00 AM by the Reverend David C. Drebes. Interment will be at the Church Cemetery immediately following the service. A luncheon will follow in the Church social hall given by the women of the church.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Fleta Isabell Tamkin Boyer</strong>, 92, of Alexandria and formerly of Fort Valley passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Capital Caring Hospice in Arlington.  The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Dry Run Christian Church in Fort Valley.  Reverend Al Lawrence will officiate.  Burial will follow in Detrick Cemetery in Fort Valley.</p>
<p>Mrs. Boyer was born August 21, 1919 in Seven Fountains, Virginia daughter of the late Edwin McKinley and Marybelle Ritenour Tamkin.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Franklin Boyer and three siblings, Leroy Tamkin, Fay Coates and Paul Tamkin.</p>
<p>She is survived by two sons, Gerald F. Boyer of Alexandria and Kevin R. Boyer and his wife, Vicky Crosson of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter, Carolyn M. Kramer and husband, Barton of Springfield, Virginia; two sisters, Mazie Cullers of Seven Fountains and Clemence Bruce of Front Royal; five grandchildren, Todd, Brian, and Scott Kramer and Anna and Maria Boyer and two great grandchildren, Addison and James Kramer.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Edwin Tamkin, Troy Tamkin, Kent Tamkin, Martin Cullers, Wayne Cullers, Lonnie Cullers, and Eddie Ritenour.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.</p>

<p>A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, 11:00 AM at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock by Rev. Nathan Robinson. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens.</p>
<p>Mrs. Shipp was born June 16, 1932 at Conicville, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Verner and Virgie Lindamood Dellinger. She was preceded in death by a son Michael Shipp and a sister, Alma Helsley.</p>
<p>Mrs. Shipp is survived by a son, Steven Wayne Shipp of Stephens City: two daughters, Diana Shipp Williams of Woodstock and Debra Shipp Conner of Stephens City; a sister, Emajean Baker of Conicville; a brother, Verner Dellinger, Jr. of Conicville; Five grandchildren, Krista Williams, Elizabeth and Stephanie Shipp, Arick and Lauren Williams; four great grandchildren, Michael, Luke, Annie, and Diana Williams.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Douglas M. &#8220;Wink&#8221; Snyder</strong>, 66, a resident of Fort Valley, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Life Care Center in New Market, Virginia.</p>
<p>&#8220;Wink&#8221; was born February 26, 1945 in Wardensville, West Virginia, the son of the late Carson Snyder and Maude McClanahan Snyder.  He was a 1963 graduate of Central High School and a retired brick mason.  &#8220;Wink&#8221; was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict.  He was a life member of the Fort Valley Fire Department.</p>
<p>Surviving are four brothers, Jack Snyder of San Diego, CA, Larry Snyder, Steve Snyder (Marsha) and William &#8220;Bo” Snyder of Fort Valley.  He was predeceased by brother Jim Snyder of Fort Valley.</p>
<p>Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ritenour Family Cemetery, 1610 Boyer Road, Fort Valley, VA. conducted by Pastor Sherry Waddell.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Pete King, Grayson Funk, Mickey Hunt, Sonny Tamkin, Bill Mantz and Rex Mantz.</p>
<p><em>&#8220;Wink&#8221; loved his family and the Fort Valley community.  He was hugely instrumental in establishing the Fort Valley Fire Department and the Fort Valley Community Club and spent countless hours in volunteer service to the Fort Valley community he loved so dearly.</em></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>David Carroll Windle</strong>, 56, of Luray, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.  Reverend Timothy Nilsen will officiate.</p>
<p>Mr. Windle was born December 21, 1955 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Irving Lee and Mildred Cook Windle.  He was a Capitol architect for 20 years employed by the federal government.  He was a member of  Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at Fairview and Luray Moose Lodge #1413.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Mamie Windle; son, David Lee Windle and his wife, April of Luray; daughter, Laura Garlene Windle of Luray and grandson, Owen  Lewis Windle.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church following the service.</p>
<p><em>David was a family man who loved carpentry and gardening.  He will be missed by his family and friends.</em></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Gladys Showman Hansberger</strong>, 90, formerly of Mt. Jackson, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Greenfield Senior Living in Woodstock.</p>
<p>Mrs. Hansberger was born May 30, 1921 in Conicville, daughter of the late John Lester and Jocelia Sheetz Showman.</p>
<p>Mrs. Hansberger was a graduate of Triplett High School Class of 1941. She was a former employee of Orkney Hotel in Orkney Springs and retired from Bowman Apple Products, Inc. after 35 years.</p>
<p>She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Conicville.</p>
<p>She was married March 27, 1948 to Freeman Preston Hansberger who preceded her in death.</p>
<p>Mrs. Hansberger is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Ryman of Mt. Jackson; a brother, John Showman, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Arlington, and sisters-in-law Helen Showman and Betty Showman both of Mt. Jackson and Louise Showman of Arlington and numerous nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Calvin Showman, Ray Showman, Bill Showman and Algie Dellinger and brothers-in-law Lewis Ryman, Jr. and Marvin (Tuck) Dellinger.</p>
<p>Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson with Pastor David Roe officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at Jerome.</p>
<p>Pallbearers will be Ricky Showman, Robert Showman, John Showman III, John Calvin Showman, Kevin Showman, Jeffrey Showman, Terry Showman and Cecil Ryman.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.</p>
<p>Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Zoe Beatrice Hileman Getz</strong>, 91 of Woodstock, widow of Francis I. Getz, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at her home.</p>
<p>A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012, 11:00 AM at Solomon Lutheran Church Cemetery in Forestville by Pastor Susan Lantz.</p>
<p>Mrs. Getz was born on February 7, 1920 at Washington DC. She was the daughter of the late Albert Arthur and Beatrice Koontz Hileman. Mrs. Getz worked as a secretary for the Pentagon and was a homemaker as well as  an art instructor.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her son, Francis Evan Getz, a sister, Evelyn H. Hirrlinger, and a brother, Frank Devore Hileman.</p>
<p>Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Cline, Lee Cline, Donald Heishman, and George Jett.</p>
