Frances B. Gochenour, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, surrounded by her family, at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock. The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 3:00 p.m. at Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren in Edinburg,VA. Pastors Keith Simmons, Mark Bowyer and George Bowers will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Gochenour was born February 5, 1926 in Edinburg, VA, daughter of the late Thomas and Ida Wakeman Barrick. She was a graduate of Edinburg High School Class of 1945. In her early years, she worked at the Woodstock Coat Factory and retired from Bowman Apple Products in Mt. Jackson, VA. She was a faithful member of Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren and previously served as Church Reporter, Historian and various other duties in the church as well as past and present officer for the Wakeman and Barrick Reunion. She was married to the late David M. Gochenour for over 51 years.
Frances is survived by her daughter Sharon Cline and husband Alvin of Edinburg, VA; son Steven R. Gochenour of Edinburg, VA; three grandchildren, Brian Gochenour of Edinburg, VA, Tim Cline of Leesburg, VA and Carrie Proskey and husband Eric of Ashburn, VA; two great granddaughters, LCPL Hillary Gochenour deployed in Afghanistan and Savannah Gochenour of Woodstock, VA; sister, Grace Minnick; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Barrick and Eva Gochenour; special friend, Pearl Pence who was like a sister and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins as well as friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Denny and Tommy; grandson, Chris Cline and brothers, Glenn Barrick and Harvey Pence.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Minnick, Larry Barrick, Terry Wakeman, Mike Dirting, Oziel Ortiz and Richard L. Foltz Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Barrick, Brook Barrick, Ray Wakeman, Fred Garber, Keith Zirkle and Ned Conklin.
The Edinburg Class of 1945 will attend in a body.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 18 from 6-8 p.m. at the Church

Frances loved her Lord, her friends, family, pets, taking pictures and growing flowers. She will be missed by all who knew her.
