Gail Maxine Stinson Burke, 92, of Fort Valley, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Greenfield in Strasburg. The funeral will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Church of the Brethren in Fort Valley. Reverends Kenneth Graff and Shelvie Mantz will officiate. Burial will follow in Detrick Cemetery in Fort Valley.
Mrs. Burke was born February 21, 1922 daughter of the late Robert William Stinson and Maud Munch Stinson. She was a 1940 graduate of Edinburg High School. She formerly worked at American Viscose, Woodstock Aileen and Intertype Co. of Winchester. She was a member of Dry Run United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aux. of Fort Valley Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roderick William Burke.
She is survived by her son, Larry Burke and wife Celia of Fort Valley; brother, Gary Stinson and wife Jerry of Strasburg; four grandchildren, Ben Burke and wife Kristen of Fort Valley, Lacy Knight and husband Lloyd of Winchester, Robert Burke of Edinburg and Teresa McKenzie and husband Patrick of Charlottesville; five great grandchildren, Ryan Carter Burke, Brandy Knight, Tyler Knight, Noah Knight and Hannah Burke.
Pallbearers will be Terry Stinson, Joel Plauger, Terry Plauger, Danny Thomale, Kevin Miller and David Bredeman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Munch, Pete and Jane King.
