I just saw Corporal Rose’s death notice in a local newspaper. I want to share a pleasant memory of him to the family. In August of 1971 I was in my 3rd year of college. I had to write a paper about local police work in my hometown. I had the honor of riding with Corporal Rose out of the Mason district police station. He was the consummate gentleman. He made the ridealong fun and interesting. He influenced me to later join the Fairfax County Police Department after graduating from college. I retired from FCPD in 1992 after 20 years of service. Corporal Rose was fine man and a great teacher. My 8 hour ride with Corporal Rose guided me in the selection of my career. I thank him greatly. May he rest in peace.
