Gaylon Lee Ludwig, Sr.

Gaylon Lee Ludwig, Sr., 87 of Edinburg, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

Mr. Ludwig was born December 11, 1929 in Edinburg son of the late William Hunter and Stella Helsley Ludwig.

He was a retired mechanic.

Mr. Ludwig was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hamburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise George Ludwig.

He is survived by three daughters, Helen Ludwig Smootz and her husband Earl of Mt. Jackson, Louise Ludwig Tusing and her husband Larry of Shreveport, Louisiana, Barbara Bailey and her husband Daniel of Basye; a son, Gaylon Lee Ludwig, Jr. of Mt. Jackson; a daughter-in-law Debbie Ludwig of Strasburg; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he is also preceded in death by a son, William Joseph Ludwig.

He enjoyed spending time with his friends at Mt. Jackson and Woodstock Burger King and also at Edinburg Motors.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home In Woodstock with the Rev. Katie Gosswein officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Sibert, Joshua Smootz, Logan Tusing, Larry Tusing, Jr., Shawn Hepner, Damion Ludwig and Brian Ludwig.

Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Crystal Ludwig, Brandie Ludwig, Amy Sine and Sarah Fleming.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
