Harold “Sonny” Keyser Huffman, 81, of Woodstock, VA passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. The funeral will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Reverend Richard Craver will officiate. Burial, with military honors by Woodstock American Legion Post#199, will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Sonny was born May 19, 1932 in Shenandoah County, VA, son of the late Amos Dewey Huffman and Lucy Mae Keyser of Page County, VA. He was also known as Sonny Sine. Sonny served in the U.S. Military for 32 years and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Dulles International Airport as a firefighter. He also worked at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Aileen Inc. and Wal-Mart as a security guard. He was a member of American Legion Post #199 and Woodstock Moose Lodge #575.
Sonny is survived by companion of 20 years, Mary T. Sibert; three sons and two daughters, Dale Huffman and Debbie of Maurertown, VA, Darryl Huffman and Ellen of Strasburg, VA, Randy Huffman and Cheryl of Edinburg, VA, Connie Barnes and Bill of Strasburg, VA, Debbie Huffman Hale and Tim of Manassas, VA; two step-daughters, Sue Haxton and Terry of Sumter, SC and Ronda and Cork Brown of Cascade, MD; 10 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.
He was an avid Nascar, Redskins and New York Yankee fan. He was also an avid hobbyist and enjoyed model trains, planes and cars.
Pallbearers will be Dale Huffman, Darryl Huffman, Randy Huffman and grandsons, Michael Smoot, Ryan Huffman and Kyle Wetzel.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
