Hugh Franklin Sager

Hugh Franklin Sager, 78, of Woodstock, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his home.  A graveside service will be held Friday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.  Military honors will be by the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Sager was born August 19, 1933 in Woodstock, son of the late H. Lyle and Alma Painter Sager.  He  retired  as Captain after 25 years (1951-1976)  from the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Korean Conflict, two tours in Vietnam, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He was a realtor with Sager Realty for 30 years, Past President of the Board of Realtors and Past Commander of Woodstock American Legion Post #199.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ring Sager and brother, Donald Sager Sr.

He is survived by his son, H.B. Sager and his wife, Christine of Maurertown; two daughters, Tracy Sager Seymour and her husband, Glenn of Omaha, Nebraska and Sharon Sager McCarthy  and her husband, Patrick of Woodstock and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah County Pregnancy Center, 28 Cedar Wood Lane, Edinburg, VA 22824 or the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, P.O. Box 937, Verona, VA 24482.
