James Isaac Naff

James Isaac Naff, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 22, 2010.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010, 2:00 PM at the St. Luke Brethren Church by Pastors Freddie Helsley and Richard Craver. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.

Pastor Naff was born on December 8, 1932 in Buena Vista, Virginia. He was the son of the late Paul and Lucille Cline Naff.

Pastor Naff is survived by his wife Ethel Rae Lowmaster Naff, whom he married, June 3, 1952; four children and their spouses, Karen Crisman of Mt. Jackson, Craig Naff (Kathy), of Woodstock, Mark Naff (Elizabeth) of Hampton, Beth Bell (Daniel) of Pinkerton, OH; nine grandchildren, Alicia Smootz (Joshua), Nichole Gil (Tomas), James Clark (Carrie), Angel, Gabrielle, Michael, and Elijah Maurer, Samuel and Timothy Naff; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Arianna Smootz; a brother, David Naff (Mary) of Rock Hill, SC.

Pastor Naff was a member of St. Luke Brethren Church, St. Luke, VA, and a member of the National Association of Brethren Church Elders (Pastors). He was a graduate of the Emmanuel College of the Bible, Wheeling, WV, BRE, 1955, Ashland University (College), Ashland, OH, BA, 1959, Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, OH, BD, 1962. He pastored Brethren Churches for 45 years, in Vandergrift, PA; Masontown, PA; St. James, MD; Woodstock, VA; Peru, IN; and Williamstown, OH. He served as District Moderator in both Pennsylvania, and Southeastern District. He served as Camp Director as well as teacher in the Pennsylvania, Southeastern, and Ohio Districts. He served on the Ministerial Examining Board in Southeastern, Indiana and Ohio Districts, and was a member of the National Missionary Board of the Brethren Church as well as Vice President. While pastoring St. Luke Brethren Church he  worked  as well at Aileen, Inc. at the Edinburg Plant as in-plant Print Shop manager for nearly 10 years.

    I so appreciated Brother Naff and his love for God and people. He had a wonderful gift and I’m thankful for his willingness to use it for the Lord. He touched many lives in our community including my own. Just a week or so ago, he stopped me in the hall at Consulate and we talked a while. It was great to visit with him.
