Janice Edgar Murphy, 80, of Woodstock, VA passed away March 19, 2012 at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Woodstock. The Reverend Alexander D. MacPhail will officiate.
Mrs. Murphy was born May 9, 1931 in Winston Salem, NC daughter of the late Brenton M. and Edith Simpson Edgar. She graduated with a BS Degree from Lake Eerie College in Painsville, Ohio. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Friends of the North Fork, Shenandoah County Tree Board and past member of the Shenandoah Garden Club. She was an avid gardener and reader, and enjoyed quilting, sailing and playing and teaching the mountain dulcimer. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Murphy and three sisters, Doris E. McElwee, Shirley E. Watt and Marilyn E. Kelly.
She is survived by two daughters, Edith (Dede) Lallande and her husband Howard of Annandale, VA and Kathryn (Kate) Boggs and her husband Ray of Woodbridge, VA and four grandchildren, Benton Boggs, Christopher Boggs, Andrew Boggs and Rebecca Lallande.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5-9 p.m. at Janice’s home located at 2611 Coffmantown Road, Woodstock VA.
