Joan Veronica “Granny” DeBaun

Joan Veronica “Granny” DeBaun 77 of Maurertown went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, 11:00 AM at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock by Rev. Larry Cook. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. DeBaun was born on April 14, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Veronica Allard Stoddard. She worked in different offices and was a Pharmacy Tech before retiring. She attended Valley Gospel Church in Maurertown. She was “Granny to the people she loved and loved being there to help everybody.

Mrs. DeBaun was preceded in death by her husband, William G. DeBaun; a brother, Loran Stoddard; a sister, Virginia Bogan; a grandson, Ray William Shields; a daughter in law, Diane DeBaun; and partner, James Barton.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra Lefferts and husband, Nick of Maurertown; a son, William DeBaun of Woodstock; a sister, Dorothy Bullock of Florida; a stepdaughter, Patricia Barton Hawley of Woodstock, GA; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Bogan, Thomas Bogan, David Pryor, Adam Lefferts, Brian Merritt, and Wesley Grim.

    I am very sorry for yor lost. Joan touched many of our lives. She will be missed very much her smiling face, her sense of humor, and always looking on the bright side of things. She was a wonderful example of how we such live our lives ever day. She now walks with the Lord and no longer is she in pain. May God Bless and keep you and help you though this time of sorrow.
