Katheryn Drummond Zirkle

Katheryn Drummond Zirkle, 91, of Mount Jackson, Virginia quietly and peacefully left from her home of 67 years on Sunday, July 12, 2015.  She was born in New Market, Virginia on September 16, 1923, the daughter of the late John William Drummond and Mary Florence (Moore) Drummond. She was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband of 59 years, Elmer Linwood Zirkle.  She was preceded in death as well by all of her brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, and unnumbered relatives and friends who had shared her journey.

She is survived by five sons:  Garry Linwood Zirkle of Bush, Lousiana; Ronald Elmer Zirkle of Annandale, Virginia; Christon Andrew Zirkle of Mount Jackson, Virginia; Michael Keith Zirkle of Quicksburg, Virginia; and Robin Anthony Zirkle of Mount Jackson, Virginia. She is survived by one sister, Colleen Drummond Garber of Quicksburg, Virginia, several in-laws, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Her life was devoted to caring for her family.  She was steadfast and immovable in her responsibilities as a loving wife and mother.  She devoted many years of service within the church community of Saint Mary’s (Pine) Lutheran Church of Mount Jackson, Virginia. Her life was characterized by her stalwart faithfulness and adherence to the principles of the gospel.  She was bold in her declaration of always doing what was right as she lived a Christ-centered life. .

Private services were held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 with the Reverend Dr. James Davis officiating. Interment was at the Forestville Cemetery in Forestville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, gifts of remembrance may be made to the Forestville Cemetery Fund, 6086 South Middle Road, Mount Jackson, Virginia 22842.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson, Virginia.
