Kathryn Clements Armentrout, 76, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Armentrout was born in Upper Tract, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Nellie Full VanMeter and Kermit Kimble. She married the late Sammie L. Armentrout on July 22, 1972, in Mount Jackson, Va.
Mrs. Armentrout retired from Pilgrim’s Pride in Timberville, Va. She loved being outside and planting in her gardens. Her flowers bloomed beautifully under her care. She enjoyed collecting hummingbirds and attending yard sales. She also loved attending bluegrass concerts.
She is survived by one son, Walter “Jug” Clements III of New Market; two daughters, Shelia Wittig of New Market and Betty Morris of Grottoes; one stepdaughter, Rachel Knupp of Harrisonburg; and one stepson, Sammie Armentrout of Bowmans Crossing. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Elizabeth Valencia of Shenandoah (Ricardo), Raymond Miller of Staunton, Aaron Wittig (Marisa) of Broadway and Adrienne Oden (Hailey) of New Market; great-grandchildren, David Anthony, Madison Wittig, Karina Valencia, Maritza Valencia-Rocha and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by one sister, Connie Alt, and one brother, Ivan Full, both of Maysville, W.Va. Surviving also is her previous husband and father of her children, Walter “Whitie” Clements Jr. of New Market.
Per her wishes, her body was cremated. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market. Interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, east of Harrisonburg and will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
