Kenneth Elwood Dovel

Kenneth Elwood Dovel, 79, of Stanley, passed away on Thanksgiving Day morning, Nov. 23, at his home.

He was born in Harrisonburg on June 21, 1938, and was the son of the late Roy F. and Reba A. Dovel.

Mr. Dovel was employed as an iron worker for 43 years at Atlas Machine & Iron Works in Gainesville.

Kenneth was predeceased by his wife, Florence Marie Dovel, on March 1, 1992.

He is survived by his companion of 19 years, Judith Ann Lucas; a son, Terry Ray Dovel and his wife, April, of Luray; two stepdaughters, Karen Deavers and husband, John, of Rileyville, and Linda Batman and husband, Jamie, of Shenandoah; a sister, Janet Gochenour of Luray; and four step-grandchildren.

The Revs. Jack Campbell and Tony Cubbage will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Blue Ridge Pentecostal Church in Stanley. Burial will follow at Leakesville Cemetary near Luray.

Friends may call at the church after 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25.
