Larry Joseph Vann, 74, of Edinburg passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. The Reverend Karen Van Stee, Pastors Katie Gosswein and Brian Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Vann was born October 19, 1940 in Columbia Furnace, son of the late Joseph and Frances Burner Vann. He was a 1958 graduate of Edinburg High School, and retired after 35 years from Shenandoah Valley Electric. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he formerly served on the council and as a trustee, Hamburg Ruritan Club and the Liars Club.
Larry is survived by his wife, Doris Stoneburner Vann whom he married on April 11, 1960; two daughters, Carla V. Lewis and husband Bill of Appomattox, VA., and Robin V. Tusing and husband Charlie of Edinburg, VA; one son, Michael A. Vann of Edinburg; two sisters, Brenda Burns of Roanoke, VA and Lisa Vann of Timberville, VA.; five grandchildren, Carrie Lewis, Rebekah Carter and husband Jared, Chris Tusing, Megan Tusing and Ian Vann.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Grandstaff, Kevin Gutshall, Bill Lewis, Charlie Tusing, Chris Tusing, Dwight Stoneburner, Ian Vann, and Jared Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Wilkins, Rudy Armstrong, Bill Eckard, Dan Rhodes, Phil Hottel, Danny Hottel, Jack Will, Buddy Polk, Lester Webster and Doug Click.
Edinburg High School Class of 1958 and Hamburg Ruritan Club will be attending as a group.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.
