Laura Charlotte Rush Clinedinst

Laura Charlotte Rush Clinedinst, 99, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Life Care Center.

Charlotte was born on January 1, 1915 in Woodstock to Mark and Bess Rush who preceded her in death. She was the widow of George Milton Clinedinst, Sr. to whom she was married for 32 years. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Dorothy Pangle, Emma Lucy Beazley, Helen Oesterling and her granddaughter, Krista Bailey.

Mrs. Clinedinst is survived by her children, Harriet Macdonald (Wayne) of Woodstock, Barbara Tower (David) of Edinburg and George Clinedinst, Jr. (Lottie) of Gettysburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Robin Hockman (Thad) of Maurertown, Rick Macdonald (Leslie) of Colombia, MD, Kelly Maxwell (Mike) of Charlottesville, Laura Dawson (Gary) of Toms Brook, Laura Hunt (David) of North Ridgeville, OH, Jeff Bailey of Williamsport, NJ, Paula Clinedinst of Lakewood, CO and George Clinedinst, III of Laurel, MD; great grandchildren, Jacob Hockman, Adam Hockman, Cady Hockman, Emma Hockman, Abby Macdonald, Matt Macdonald, Rachel Maxwell, Anna Maxwell, Joe Maxwell, Sara Dawson, Emily Dawson, Bailey Dawson, Sydney Hunt, Tyler Hunt, Emerson Bailey; and one great great grandchild, Cristiano Maxwell. Charlotte is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Zion Christian Church, Maurertown. Charlotte graduated from Woodstock High School in 1932, participated in post graduate business courses at Massanutten Military Academy, and then went to work for the Shenandoah County Extension Agency. She later ventured to the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Soil Conservation Service in Washington, D.C., from which she retired after more than 30 years.  Charlotte was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Woodstock Chapter 93.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.,. at the Dellinger Funeral Home Chapel in Woodstock with the Reverend Sharon Roddy Waters officiating. Interment will be at Cedarwood Cemetery, Edinburg. A meal will follow at Zion Christian Church in Maurertown.

Pallbearers will be Rick Macdonald, George Clinedinst III, Thad Hockman, Mike Maxwell, Gary Dawson and Jacob Hockman.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of flowers or memorial contributions to Woodstock Rescue Squad or Zion Christian Church, Maurertown.
