Lewis Nagel Polk, 80, of Woodstock, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at Consulate Health Care in Woodstock. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Pastor Brian Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Mr. Polk was born October 4, 1935 in Edinburg, son of the late Stanley Woodrow and Esther Heltzel Polk. He graduated from Edinburg High School and was an army veteran of the Korean War and was a former member of Woodstock American Legion Post #199. He worked for J. Westly Poland Construction Co., and started a construction company with his brother Lorraine. He liked farming and raising beef calves, showing Roadster ponies (was proud that he raised and trained a World Champion: Ticker Tape) He always believed in hard work and doing what needed to be done.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Edith Heishman Polk; three children, Lisa Polk Norris of Troy, VA. And Danny Warren Polk and Neil Ray Polk both of Woodstock; one sister, Sylvia George of Edinburg; three brothers, Eugene Polk, Eddie Polk and Lorraine Polk all of Edinburg; three grandchildren, David Alan Polk, Shannon Norris Jr., and Erica Nicole Norris; one great granddaughter, Mikayleigh Ava Polk; He was preceded in death by sister, Doris Heishman and brother, Allen Polk.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Bowman, Daniel Bowman, Tommy Riffle, Cliff Wetzel, Matthew Polk, and Billy Wetzel. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Polk and Randall Kennedy, Sr.
