Lillian Carolyn Strickler, 84, formerly of Woodstock, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Elms of Lynchburg. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Massanutten Cemetery in Woodstock by Reverend Robert Hoskins.
She was born in Columbia, SC on December 2, 1930, daughter of the late Harry W. and Louise Strickler. She is survived by her brother, Harry W. Strickler, Jr. and his wife Phyllis; her sister-in-law Clare C. Strickler (her late husband, Charles Hamman Strickler); her nephew Charles H. Strickler, Jr. and his wife Denice and children Eliza and Krista; her niece Donna S. Rutherford and her husband Tim; her great nephew David Rutherford, his wife Nicole, and daughter Lillie and son Levi; her great niece Angela Campbell, her husband Ron and their children Ty, Haley and Sam.
She worked for the Shenandoah County School Board for 38 years as a school secretary at Woodstock High and Central High Schools, and the last 17 years as a Clerk of the Board. She retired on July 1, 1988. She was a member of the Woodstock United Methodist Church since 1941. During the years she served as secretary to the Church Council and as Financial Secretary for 13 years.
