Lucy Irene Waters Stephens, 81, of Fort Valley, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center. The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Fort Valley. Pastors Wayne Thompson and Brian Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow in Sibert Cemetery in Fort Valley. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Stephens was born February 10, 1933 in Page County, daughter of the late Lemuel Ervin Waters and Beulah Virginia Mideton Waters. She graduated from Luray High School in 1954 and was a member of Page Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by sister, Lyda Seekford and brothers, Elbert, Douglas and Elwood Waters.
Lucy is survived by her husband, Stanley David Stephens whom she married on June 4, 1955; son, Wayne Stephens and wife Diane of Singers Glen; two daughters, Betty Sue Stephens of Fort Valley and Bonnie Stephens Barton and husband Charles of Edinburg; two brothers, Leroy and Lemuel Waters both of Luray; two sisters, Vivian Baker and Delorise Waters both of Luray; five grandchildren, Tony Stephens, Wendy Rogers, Dustin Smith, Alex Barton and Bettine Kingree and six great grandchildren, Kayle Stephens, Jaelynn Rogers, Brayden Rogers, Caleb Barton, Matthew Barton and Makayla Barton.
Pallbearers will be Larry Walters, Adam Walters, Christopher Stephens, Trent Stephens, Travis Rogers, Alex Barton, Jeff Moyers and Dustin Smith.
