Marcellis “Jimmy” Eugene Cline, 69 of Woodstock passed away peacefully at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Supporting him on his journey to meet his Lord and Savior were his loving wife of 32 years, Sherrill, his sister, Wanda, brother, Randy and sister-in-law, Martha. Jimmy had been in declining health for several years due to the effects of Agent Orange exposure during his tour in Vietnam. Services will be Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Round Hill Church of the Brethren in Toms Brook, Virginia. Pastor Bill Garber and Otis Frye will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hamburg, Virginia.
Jimmy was born April 5, 1946 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is the son of the late Wilson Woodrow and Lillian Lee Cline. Jimmy worked several jobs before being drafted into the Army from 1966-1968. He served in Vietnam where he performed his duties as a Water Craft Operator. Transporting supplies and equipment ships to inland destinations off the South China Seas. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was discharged as an E-4 with honors. After his military obligations were fulfilled he went to work at the Edinburg Aileen and was there for 10 years, Perry Judd Printing Company for 20 years and Lockheed Martin for 13 years. His hobbies included, Nascar racing, football, antique cars and the 60’s music.
He is survived by, his loving wife, Sherrill E. Cline, 1 step-son, Jerry Sine II and wife Kim of Woodstock, Virginia; 3 step grandchildren, Mike, Amanda, and Brittany; 3 step great grandchildren, Riley, Brooklyn, and Raelyn; 2 sisters, Wanda Cook and husband Cecil of Strasburg, Virginia, and Kay Houssein of Durham, North Carolina; 1 brother, Randy Cline and wife Martha of Woodstock, Virginia and his cat companion, Sofie who he cherished deeply.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Round Hill Church of the Brethren Wounded Warriors Project, Woodstock Rescue Squad, or the Woodstock Fire Department.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Cook, Anthony Cook, Mike Good, Dennis Fravel, Don Sherman Jr., and Hank Hoover. Attending as a group will be the Vietnam Veterans of America.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, August 18, from 6-8 P.M.
Jimmy will be missed by his beautiful smile and all those who knew him.
