Marion Elizabeth (Betty) Cochran Dennis, 100, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 22, 2012 at her home.
She was born the daughter of Mary Lizzie Baker Cochran and Rodney Cornelius Cochran in Winchendon, MA, on June 7, 1912
In 1933, at age 21, Betty moved to Washington, D.C. and started work at the Department of Agriculture. There she met the love of her life, Haines Dennis, who passed away in 2001 after 64 years of marriage. She became a stenographer and court reporter working for the government and then for NBC for the David Brinkley News Program.
Over their years together Betty and Haines traveled throughout the United States, made friends quickly and kept them for life. They learned to fly airplanes, enjoyed golf, traveling, and playing bridge. Their greatest joy was spending time with their children, grandchildren, and the many friends they shared.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Leanne Dotson and her partner, Lynann Rudert, of Annapolis, MD, and Jeanne French and her husband, Tim, of Edinburg; her grandchildren are Daniel Dotson, Erika Rizkallah and her husband, Issam, Christopher French and his wife, Anya, Kelly French, Anna French, and Sara French. Her great grandchildren are Dania, Katya and Samih Rizkallah, Tyler and Dylan Dotson, and Noah French.
A celebration of life open to friends and family will be held on Sunday, November 4th, at 1:00 pm at the home of Jeanne and Tim French, 104 Hillcrest Road, Edinburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, # 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
