Maurice “Moe” Proper

Maurice “Moe” Proper, 76 of Fort Valley died on July 30, 2014 at his home. Services will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Reverend Joan Wilson will officiate. Family will receive friends Monday night at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M.

Mr. Proper was born in Cobleskill, New York on May 12, 1938 to Euclid and Barbara Shaver Proper. They predeceased him. He attended Cobleskill High-school class of 1956. On May 3, 1957 he married Joan Herman.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, one daughter, Denise Slawienski of Amsterdam, New York; Three sons, Dennis and wife Cindy Proper of Delanson. New York, Daniel Proper of South Orange, New Jersey, and David and wife Barbara Proper of Oxford, New Jersey. Two grandsons, Kevin Kowallo and Zac Peoples. Three granddaughters, Halee, Annaliese, and Riley Proper. One sister, Tina Spenello.

He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters New Jersey local 254 since 1964, the IAABO Basketball Referees since 1962, The Woodstock Moose Lodge 575 and was an avid golfer and bowler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice.
