Melvin Lee Hollar, Jr.

Melvin Lee Hollar Jr., 65 of Woodstock passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 unexpectedly at his home. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 12 at 11:00 A.M. at the Union Forge United Methodist Church in Edinburg. Pastor Perry Waters will officiate. Burial will be private. Family will receive friends prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Hollar was born on May 7, 1949. Son of the late Melvin and Audrey Hamilton Hollar. He was a member of the West Shenandoah Ruritan Club. He was an Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Union Forge United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a son, Barry Hollar of Edinburg; 2 daughters, Cheri May and Husband Daniel of Timberville, Terri Barb and husband Luke of New Market; 2 sisters, Phyllis Thorpe and husband Virgil of Woodstock, Gladys Waters and husband Perry of Edinburg; 1 brother, Phillip Hollar and wife Patty of Woodstock; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

    To the world Melvin was just one but to all of his friends at the West Shenandoah Ruritan Club, he was our world. He will be sadly missed by all of his friends in our club and by many, many community members. Melvin spent much of his free time helping people in need. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family. Rest in peace Melvin. You have served your community well.
