Mildred Louise Minton of Toms Brook, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester. Mrs. Minton was preceded in death by her husband, William Anderson Minton.
She was born August 22, 1922 in Woodstock, daughter of the late Mary Ellen Guess and her stepfather, Byrd Riffey.
She had been a waitress at Mac’s Truck Stop and a cook at Toms Brook Elementary School.
She was a member of the American Legion # 199 Ladies Auxiliary; a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Toms Brook Volunteer Fire Department; a volunteer at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and the Red Cross; and former member of Toms Brook Town Council.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Church at Fisher’s Hill where she served as a deacon, elder and a member of the Women’s Guild.
She is survived by daughters, Kay Minton of Chantilly, VA and Karen Minton of Bridgewater; son William Minton II and wife Pauline; Richard Minton and wife Betsy of Toms Brook; half -sisters, Geraldine Broughton of Woodstock and Bonnie Welles of Thomasville, PA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock with the Rev. Dan Locke officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Pallbearers will be Richard (Richie) Minton, Christopher A. Minton, Clark C. Keller III, Billy Orndorff, Jack Burr and James Burr.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 2:00 p.m. service Saturday.
