Nina Green Will

Nina Green Will, 92, of Skyline Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock, VA and formerly of Mount Jackson, VA, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home.

Ms. Will was born May 2, 1920 in Mount Jackson, VA, daughter of the late Abner Norman Green, Sr. and Mary Ellen Williams Green.

Ms. Will graduated from Triplett High School on June 2, 1939. On December 28, 1940 she married Lawrence D. Will who preceded her in death on February 21, 1994. Ms Will was also preceded in death by a son, Harold E. Will.

She was employed by Byrd/Frederickson Orchards for twenty-five years.

Ms. Will was a lifelong member of Valley Central Church in New Market, VA where she was a faithful and loving member, serving in many capacities.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara W. and David C. Williams of McGaheysville, VA; two granddaughters, Alison W. Pierce and husband Jon P. of Harrisonburg, VA and Kristal W. Snider and husband Mark of Naples, FL; two great-grandsons, Jesse A. Pierce of Harrisonburg, VA and John D. Snider of Naples, FL; and two step-great-grandchildren, Major Scott Snider of Las Vegas, NV and Brenda VanValkenburg of Honolulu, HI. She is also survived by two sisters, Ruby L. Green of Skyline Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock, VA and Patricia G. Weaver of New Market, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mount Jackson, VA with Rev. James Burke officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harry L. Litten, Phil Litten, Greg Litten, Zane Green, Ricky Green, Steve Weaver, Jerry Hines and Joe Estep.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Mount Jackson, on Saturday, April 13, prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Memory Walk in honor of Nina G. Will c/o Crystal Brinkley, Skyline Terrace Nursing Home, P.O. Box 558, Woodstock, VA 22664.

    The entire family has our deepest sympathy and prayers on Nina’s passing. My mother Edna Lee Ettel Thagard was her cousin. Mom gave us a easy receipe for cake icing when we got married 45 years ago. She wrote on the receipe card Nina’s icing and thats what we have always called it and have shared it with friends who call it that. I don’t get back to the valley much anymore due to health issues and it’s normally a fly by night trip. The best years of my life was running around with all the Green’s in the orchards and going to Uncle Bud’s and Aunt Ellie’s. May God bless and comfort you all.
