Bobby Ray Morgan, 83 of Strasburg passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center. Services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Dellinger Funeral Homes, Woodstock, VA. Pastors John Senters and Bill Ponn will deliver the eulogy. A burial will follow in Detrick Cemetery in Fort Valley, VA.
Bobby was born on December 9, 1940, in Clear Fork, West Virginia and was the son of the late Verner and Grace Morgan. Bobby graduated from Baileysville High School in 1958 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Concord College in 1964. Bobby dedicated over thirty years of his life to teaching Mathematics. He delighted in sharing stories of past students; each one leaving a profound mark on him. An avid sports fan, Bobby spent many years coaching, refereeing, and umpiring. He passed his knowledge and expertise on to his children and grandchildren, spending many afternoons on the basketball court, track, and softball field. Bobby loved his family, music, gardening, and reading western classics. He was a member of White Chapel United Methodist Church and Fort Valley Ruritan Club. Bobby never knew a stranger and was never short of a few good jokes. He was a steadfast and loving man who will be missed beyond measure.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 62 years, Deloris Morgan, daughters Rhonda Ransom (Roger) and Melissa Morgan of Strasburg, VA; sons Jimmy Morgan (Elisa) of Fredericksburg, VA and Keith Morgan (Lisa) of Stoystown, PA; sister Rachel Rudd of Stafford, VA and brother Randall Morgan (Diane) of Baileysville, WV; grandchildren Caity Morgan of Winchester, VA, Cassie Strother of Stoystown, PA, Josh Ransom of Strasburg, VA, Sidney Morgan of Fredericksburg, VA, and Emma Whelan of Strasburg, VA; and great-grandchildren Connor and Lydia Strother of Stoystown, PA. Bobby is preceded in death by grandson Kyle Morgan.
