Judith "Judy" Nevin Jones

Judith “Judy” Nevin Jones, 87, of Woodstock, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 19, 2024.  Judy was born on February 27th, 1936, in Falls Church, to the late George H. and Mildred Nevin.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mildred Nevin, her husband, Dan Jones, her brother George “Sonny” Nevin, and her sister Margaret “Monnie” Nevin. She is survived by her brother Mike Nevin, and her children, Debra Hunt, Gary Jones, Micki Zerkel, and Bill Jones, as well as her 9 grandchildren: Jeremy, and Josh Hunt, Justin Koontz, Shelby Flick Ryan Zerkel; and Grayson and Charlotte Jones, Dan Jones, and Nicole Zipp. Additionally, she is survived by her 7 great-grandchildren: Kara, Briona, Haylee, Nathan, Davy, Lia, and Peyton, as well as special nieces and nephews. To all children, she insisted on being addressed as "Mother," except for the one she allowed to call her "gmom.”

Judy married Dan on February 26th, 1961. Judy graduated from Fairfax High School in 1954 where she loved playing sports like field hockey and archery. After graduation, she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Later in life, they decided to move from Quicksburg, Virginia, to Homosassa, Florida using it as a home base for their adventures, namely sailing and traveling. Their love for adventure was so profound that they once traveled back to Virginia for a dentist appointment, only to return to Florida right after. After many years in Florida, they returned to Woodstock.

Judy loved making the most of her day alongside Dan. From staying at lighthouses, traveling, sailing with True Love, or going to National parks in their RV with their dog, there was never a dull moment. Dan and Judy grew together and were a team that never missed a local club's free dinner.

The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 1-2 P.M. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Sparks. A burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens next to her late husband, Daniel Jones. The pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeremy, Josh, Justin, Ryan, Grayson, and Dan.
