Linda Lee Huffman Lonas passed away Friday, February 16 at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home. She was born in Petersburg, West Virginia on October 20, 1946, to the late Harold and Alma Vandevandar Huffman. During her early years, her family lived in Baltimore Maryland, but her summers were spent with her beloved "Grandmom”, Nora Vandevander Helmick, in Riverton West Virginia. She later moved to Broadway, Va and graduated from Broadway High School. She married Stanley Eugene Lonas, who survives, on August 24,1963. She is also survived by daughters Amy Scruggs (Danny) and Kelly Pults (Eric). Two Grandchildren, Andrew Scruggs (Este) and Dana Strickler (Charles, one great granddaughter, Charlotte Scruggs, and Sister Thelma Halterman (Larry). She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert, and Tom Huffman. The staff at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home were so much more than caregivers. They became extended family and are much loved, appreciated and could never be thanked enough. Linda was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Basye and a founding member of the Orkney Springs Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to crochet, sew, woodwork, paint and would never turn down a trip back to her favorite places in West Virginia. She worked for Bryce Family Enterprises for 33 years and later formed with Eugene, Lonas Associates and continued working in property management at The Hill Condominiums. Pastor Steve Woods will conduct the service at Trinity UCC Wednesday, Feb 21 at 2pm. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
