Rev. Elmo Van Mantz

Rev. Elmo Van Mantz, 73 of Fort Valley, died Thursday, July 14, 2011.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011, 2:00 pm at the Faith Lutheran Church by Brother Edwin Tamkin. Burial will follow at the Detrick Cemetery.

Rev. Mantz was born October 15, 1937 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Russell Mantz and survived by his mother and stepfather, Ellanora and Albert McClanahan.

Elmo was a member of the Oak Hill Church of the Brethren and a founding, lifetime member of the Fort Valley Fire Department. He was the owner of Elmo Mantz Excavating for over 50 years.

Rev. Mantz was preceded in death by son, Elmo V. Mantz, Jr., two grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Elmo is survived by his loving wife, whom he married on December 20, 1957, Shelvie Lichliter Mantz; three sons, Ford Mantz and wife, Debbie, Matt Mantz and wife, Donna, and Rex Mantz; a daughter, Cathy Mantz Hinkle; four sisters, Caroline Juliano, Carol Stephens, Debra Crisman, and Shawn Wisman; two brothers, William “Bill” Mantz and Terry Mantz; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.

    Well I guess Elmo is in heaven trying to tell GOD where what goes,or at least where he thinks it should be. Elmo you will be sadly missed but not for long.make sure you come to the gate when we get there. Rest in Paridise my friend. By the way tell all our family and friends we love and miss them and we will see them to soon.For time here is short!!!!!!!!!
