Richard Lee Funkhouser, 77, of Jerome, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Envoy of Winchester. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson. Reverend Jeff May will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Jerome.
Mr. Funkhouser was born October 9, 1937 in Jerome, son of the late John I. Funkhouser and Minnie Charlotte Markley Funkhouser. He was an US army veteran stationed in Germany and retired from Air Products and Chemicals in Bladensburg, MD. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anneliese Margarete Wich Funkhouser and daughter, Richelle M. Funkhouser.
He is survived by three children, Anneliese M. Barringer of Ingleside, TX, Richard J. Funkhouser of Broadway, VA and Norita M. Moreland of New Carrollton, MD.; sister, Betty Richards of Jerome, VA; brother, Claude Funkhouser of Harrisonburg, VA’ seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 Saturday at the funeral home.
