Richard Lee Moomaw

Richard Lee Moomaw, 82 of Mt. Jackson, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Moomaw was born December 24, 1932 in Orkney Springs, son of the late Arnold Leo and Hilda Glendene Barb Moomaw.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, west of Mt. Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Mae Weaver Moomaw whom he married July 3, 1960. Also surviving are two sons, Richard A. Moomaw and his wife Kelly and Timothy L. Moomaw and his wife Kim all of Mt. Jackson; five grandchildren, Odessa, Ashby, David, Kerigan and Abrielle; and one great grandchild.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson with Rev.Darlene Wilkins and Rev. Glen Early officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery with Military Honors by V.F.W. Post 2447 Edinburg, VA.

Pallbearers will be Ashby Moomaw, David Moomaw Steve Weaver, Mark Getz, James Shiley and Rodney Rupert.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Although Richard was a few years older than me, I grew up with him and knew him well for so many years.

    I guess it works out We are second cousins.
