Robert Lee Neff, 82, of Edinburg, VA (formerly of Woodstock, VA), died May 18, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester, VA. The funeral service and Masonic Rites will be held Sunday, May 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Reverend Nathan Robinson will officiate. Burial with military honors by Woodstock American Legion and Edinburg VFW will follow at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at Fairview.
“Bob” or “Buddy” Neff was born March 10, 1934 in Woodstock, Virginia. He was the son of Braden Lee and Emma Wilkins Neff. He was married to Paula May Neff on February 10, 1954, who preceded him in death. They were married for over 60 years. Bob has one daughter, Yvonne Neff Morrison and husband Rex; one grandson, Jeffrey Robert Morrison and wife Anne. Three grand dogs Conner, Blake and Ernie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul L. Neff and Irving E. Wilkins and one sister, Audrey Neff Bauserman. He has many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Bob was a member of the United States Air Force for 20 years and a Korea and Vietnam Veteran. After retiring from the military he worked at the Woodstock Wrangler Plant and was also the Superintendent of Public Works for the Town of Woodstock. He retired from that position and worked various part-time jobs in the community. Many of you may remember him from the local community theater, county fair or as a SCPS substitute bus driver “Sergeant Neff”. He particularly enjoyed time with his grandson, going to the cabin and the time he spent in Craigsville.
Bob enjoyed being active in our community and his many friendships. He was a volunteer at SMH. A life member of the Woodstock Volunteer Rescue Squad. A member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Past President of the Woodstock Lion’s Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post #199, Order of the Eastern Star Woodstock Charter #93, NRA, Cassia Lodge #142, VFW Post 2447 and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 575. He was also part of the Wednesday Prayer Breakfast Coffee Club.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester or Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
