Roy Franklin Romick, 82, of Edinburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 19, 2012.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock, officiated by Rev. Freddie Helsley. Burial will follow at the Massanutten Cemetery.
Roy was born on March 25, 1930, in Woodstock, Virginia. He was the son of the late Charles Elmer and Edna Mae McInturff Romick. Roy was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Mary for 57 years. He retired as an equipment operator from VDOT with 27 years of service. Roy loved his garden, hunting and fishing, and treasured his loving dog, “Lady”.
Roy was preceded in death by a son, Roy Ellis “Junior” Romick; brothers, George Romick, Charles Romick, and Harry Romick; sisters, Helen McKelvey and Shirley Romick.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Romick of Edinburg; two sons, Kenneth Wayne Romick of New Market and Timothy Allen Romick and his wife, Cheryl, of Mount Jackson; a daughter Tammie Sue Sherfey and her husband, Ronnie, of Edinburg; a daughter-in-law Beth Pfohl of Haymarket; a sister, Artie Wealthy of Woodstock; two grandchildren, Michael Pfohl and Thomas Peacemaker; four step-grandchildren, Ronnie Sherfey, Jr., Amy Branch, Bryan Sherfey, and Lisa Hockensmith; two step-great grandchildren, Layla Hockensmith and Cameron Branch.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home, Woodstock.
Pallbearers will be Wade Feller, Larry Wetzel, Danny Wetzel, Leslie Hollar, Kenny Wakeman and Joe Kniceley. Honorary pallbearers will be William Romick, Jr., Greg Owens, and fellow co-workers at VDOT.
