Roy Junior Barb

Roy Junior Barb, 68, of Woodstock, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his home.  The funeral will be held Saturday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of Columbia Furnace.  Pastor Brian Duncan and Mr. David Ferguson will officiate.  Burial with military honors by Edinburg VFW Post #2447 and Woodstock American Legion Post #199 will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Barb was born May 23, 1947 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Roy Thomas Barb and Hazel Madilene Helsley Barb.  He was an Army veteran and retired from Wholesome Foods after 30 years.  He was a member of Edinburg VFW, Woodstock American Legion, DAV, New Market Eagles, Mt. Jackson Moose Lodge and MVETS.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Riffey and Brenda Barb; grandson, Michael Bowman and step son, Alvin Mauck.

Roy is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Barb; three daughters, Angela Bowman and husband Everette of New Market, Brandi Kibler and husband Jeremy of Woodstock and Rebecca Rickard of Edinburg; son, Scott Barb and wife Julie of Howell, Michigan; step daughter Shawna Racey and husband Rick of Edinburg; step son, Jared Wilson of Maurertown; three sisters, Sharon Frye of Mt. Jackson, Judy Donovan of Toms Brook and Carolyn Whetzel of Lost City, West Virginia; brother, Buddy Barb of Fulks Run; ten grandchildren, Justin Bowman, Joshua Bowman, Clayton Bowman, Darrin Kibler, Logan Barb, Tanner Barb, Preston Barb, Mallory Barb, Kalyb Dodson and Kiersten Dodson and two step grandchildren, Jeremy Racey and Ashlyn Mauck.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kibler, Scott Barb, Justin Bowman, Everette Bowman, Rick Racey, Jared Wilson, Chuck Jeffries and Vernon Donovan Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members and aux. members of Edinburg VFW and members of Woodstock American Legion.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edinburg VFW, 100 Veteran’s Way, Edinburg, VA 22824.
