Thomas Neil Hamilton

Thomas Neil Hamilton, beloved father and grandfather, passed away early Sunday morning, July 17th, 2016.  He was 86.  Mr. Hamilton was born in Cumberland, MD on November 3rd, 1929.   He was raised in Mt. Jackson, VA and a graduate of Triplett High School.   Mr. Hamilton enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean War.

He is pre-deceased by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Hoover Hamilton, his son, Neil Bradley Hamilton of Rock Hill SC, his brother, Jack E. Hamilton of High Point, NC and his parents, Braxton and Helen Hamilton of Mt. Jackson, VA.

He is survived by his daughter, Nichole H. Dement, Natalie H. Ladd (Bob) and Noel T. Hamilton, all of Jacksonville, FL.  He is also survived by his brother, Edmund Hamilton of Rock Island, IL and his sister Joann Sager of Richmond, VA, his grandchildren and their spouses; Jamie H. Gladden and Jason R. Hamilton of Rock Hill, SC and Jenna H. Cornely of Charlotte, NC, also Cole and Seth Dement of Jacksonville, FL and Katie Ladd of Los Angeles, CA and his daughter-in-law, Paula Hamilton of Rock Hill, SC.  Mr. Hamilton also has 6 great-grandchildren.

After working in the Shenandoah Valley for many years, he relocated first to Metuchen, NJ and finally to Jacksonville, FL where he lived for 44 years.  Mr. Hamilton was a Service Manager for Peoples Gas in Jacksonville, FL until his retirement.  He had previously worked for Montgomery Ward for many years.  He was a dedicated family man who loved and provided for his family faithfully.  He will be remembered as a hard-working, honest and steadfast father who worked tirelessly throughout his life and remained independent and capable till the end.  He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson, VA and Trinity Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, FL.

Jacksonville arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Mandarin

The funeral will be held in Woodstock, VA on Thursday, July 21st at 11:00 AM.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements by Dellinger Funeral Home, 159 North Main Street Woodstock, VA.  Interment to follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens.
