Walker L. Poe

Walker L. Poe, 73 of Edinburg passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Fairfax from complications of a heart attack. Services with Masonic Rites will be Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Woodstock United Methodist Church. Reverend Robert Hoskins will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Gardens.

Walker was born April 4, 1942 in Woodstock. He was the son of Martha Seibert Poe and the late Robert Lee Poe. He was a member of the Woodstock United Methodist. He was a Past Master of Cassia Lodge 142 in Woodstock. He was Knights Templar in Commandry He retired as a plant manager from H N Funkhouser after 33 and a half years with them. He loved hunting and fishing and just being outdoors. He also loved watching baseball and traveling. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Ritenour Poe and a grandson, Bryan Poe.

Walker is survived by his wife, Gloria; a son, William J. Poe of Strasburg; 2 daughters, Amy C. Miller and husband Mark of Stephens City, and Sandra L. See and husband John of Jetersville; 2 step sons, Davis Rosen and Marty Ketola; 3 step daughters, Scarlett Brammer, Virginia Rosen and Lorena Sutter; a brother, George and wife Shirley of Woodstock; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brother – in – laws Verlin Proctor III and wife Joan, Gary Proctor and wife Nancy, and his favorite brother – in –law, Earl Ritenour Jr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David, “Pete” Cooley, Weldon Funkhouser, Bill Seibert, Jason Rohde, Travis Lutz and Robert Poe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Thompson, Boyd F.” Ducie” Thompson, Chris Orndorff, Robert Rinker, Tom Tharp, Jerry Ballowe, Bob Claytor, Doug Thorpe, Virgil Thorpe, Bill Shrum, Bobby Dalton, and Clark Bauserman.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6-8 at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Woodstock Rescue Squad.
