Walter Granville Kirk

Walter Granville Kirk, 86, of Edinburg, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock.  The funeral will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock.  Pastor Robert O. Jones Jr. will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.

Mr. Kirk was born January 22, 1926 in Ridgeley, West Virginia son of the late Edgar Kenneth Kirk and Ethel May Twigg Kirk.  He was a navy veteran of World War II and retired after 30 years from NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.  He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Edinburg and Woodstock American Legion Post #199.  He was preceded in death by four brothers, Calvin Kirk of New Carrollton, Maryland, Edgar Kirk of West Virginia, Edward Kirk of Texas  and Alfred Kirk of West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Patton Kirk; two sons, Kenneth Kirk and his wife, Wendy of Justin, Texas  and John Kirk and his wife, Roxanne of Silver Spring, Maryland; four sisters, Catherine O’Brien of West Virginia, Shirley Cutchall of Williamsport, Maryland, Norma Johnson of Jupiter, Florida and Helen Kasecamp of Cumberland, Maryland; two grandsons, Brandon and David and two granddaughters, Kimberly and Kristin and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cody Ross, Kevin Estep, Jay Ross, Brandon Randall, Mike Clem and Charles  Patton.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
