Weldon Lee Walter, 86 of Edinburg passed away peacefully June 10, 2015 at Envoy of Staunton. Services will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock. Pastor Buzz Menhardt will officiate. Burial will follow in Emerson Walter Cemetery in Fort Valley with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 199.
Mr. Walter was born January 29, 1929 in Fort Valley, Virginia. He was the son of the late Herman and Virginia Funk Walter. He was a member of the New Market Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a Korean War Veteran in the United States Army. He worked at Bethlehem Steel for several years, but was a carpenter most of his life. He retired with 25 years of service from Special Warfare Laboratory of McLean, Virginia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Walter.
He is survived by his wife Janet Meyer Walter of 47 years, he is also survived by a daughter, Brenda Salisbury of Elkins, WVA; 6 sons, Ronald Walter, Daniel Walter, Gary Walter, Terry Walter all of Elkins WVA, Richard Walter of Montrose WVA, and Mitchell Walter of Edinburg Virginia; 2 sisters, Pauline Aud of Carmi, Ill, and Elvena Coffey of Fairfax Virginia; 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends, Monday night at the funeral home from 6-8 P.M.
